3 weeks from Design to Implementation
PROBLEM
- Business challenge: We needed something fast and impressive to demonstrate design, agility and innovation benefit for an important customer.
- Technical challenge: The innovation had to interface with our existing enterprise system & needed to be delivered live within 3 weeks
- Human challenge: Needed something which added authentic value to end users, we chose Nurses
PROCESS
After securing agreement for the basic Vital Signs concept I quickly drew up the wireframes for circulation making all design decisions and using the default iPhone UI and input elements. I then worked with inhouse networking colleagues in Netherlands and located a 3rd party developer in The Hague to build the App. I managed the project and visited the site to confirm assumptions and drove refinements.
OUTCOME
We went from concept to in-hospital implementation, interfacing with iSOFT's enterprise Nursing module within 3 weeks and secured ongoing sales for our organisation, while demonstrating design, agility and innovation benefit.
The Chief Surgeon at the hospital said "its not often a picture will make your heart beat faster, but these (designs) did!"
Internally the speed and success of the implementation ignited enthusiasm across the organisation, with great feedback and business units competing for involvement in next stages.
